Because "Fair Trek" offers a new alternative to mainstream tourism practices. "Fair Trek" is based on good sustainable and community-based principles. This means local people will directly benefit from your tour fees and by participating you will be providing much needed income and job opportunities to the rural locals. Local authorities and NGO’s will be ensuring the quality of the trip as well as monitoring the impact of the Project on the local community, . In average, the Project will give approximately 30 of your tour fee directly into the region you visit. Where does the money go?

into the local rural community that you will be visiting.
Where do I sleep?
On
overnight stays you will always have a local host family. You might not even
recognize them sometimes as the Project has invested in accommodation with some
little comforts. You will typically have a house that you will be sharing with other
travelers, or the other option depending where you are visiting, you
will be provided with your own mosquito net and mattress in a lodge room. All overnight
stays provide different experiences, depending on the family and village that you
will be visiting. You will also have the opportunity to mingle with the wider
village community and will make new friends amongst the children. We have available
for our guests - mattresses, mosquito nets, pillows and blankets. But if
you feel uncomfortable without your own stuff, bring a light and easy to carry sleeping
bag.
What can I experience?
First
of all you will experience some outdoor activities. Depending on your tour you can
see natural sights, local villages and learn about their life and culture. Some
of the trips include more interaction with locals than others, but all tours provide
you with an overall impression and experience of Lao rural life in the countryside.
In some places and depending the time of year you visit, you can follow the
life of the local people, maybe on their fields, or making baskets, weaving and
so on. You should try to be part of their life, even for a short time. It shows
also your interest in their culture and opens communication between Lao and international
visitors.

will I eat on a "Fair Trek"?
“Fair Trek” has agreements with the villagers to serve our guests mostly local food whenever possible and available. You will eat sticky rice, soup, local specialties, eggs and meat.
